Uganda: The United Arab Emirates, main trading partner
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as the leading source of export revenue for Uganda, accounting for 97.46% of exports to the Middle East. According to the Bank of Uganda, exports to the UAE reached $2.03 billion, representing 25.66% of total export earnings. In contrast, Uganda’s exports to Kenya have declined by 8.53% annually over the past five years, dropping to just $312 million in 2022. Key exports include gold, coffee, and fish, solidifying the UAE’s role as a key trade partner for Uganda.
