Niger: signing of a memorandum of understanding with China’s SINOPEC for the exploitation of several blocks

On May 26, 2023, Oil Minister Mahaman Sani Mahamadou and Xue Weisong, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese SINOPEC group, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Niamey for the exploitation of several oil blocks in Niger.

This new partnership with one of the world’s largest oil groups will enable the country to continue transforming its vast oil potential, in line with the objectives set by the authorities, who have made the development of this sector the driving force behind the national economy.
