Guinea : $25.8M boost for Guinea–Mali electricity interconnection

On 20 February 2026, Guinea’s Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget and a representative of the African Development Bank signed an agreement approved by the African Development Fund Board of Directors securing US$25.79 million — comprising a ~US$22 million loan and ~US$3.79 million grant — to support the 225 kV Guinea–Mali Electricity Interconnection Project. Cofinancing partners include the European Union, the World Bank and the European Investment Bank. The funding will enable 37,500 additional electricity connections for households, schools, health centers and small productive activities, enhancing electricity access and regional energy integration.
