Ghana has reduced the producer price of cocoa to about 41,000 cedis ( $3,700) per ton, down from 58,000, to stabilize a sector hit by falling global prices and financial strain at the Ghana Cocoa Board. Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson said the move was “necessary” to restore liquidity and clear farmer arrears.
