Development : 5 Africans in Devex Power 50 Top 10

The 2026 Devex Power 50 highlights Africa’s growing influence in global development leadership. Sidi Ould Tah (AfDB) ranks 2nd, John Dramani Mahama 5th, Muhammad Ali Pate 8th and Binaifer Nowrojee 10th, alongside Anna Makanju (OpenAI) in 4th place. Released in early 2026, Devex’s list recognises leaders shaping finance, health, climate and innovation in the emerging “post-aid” era.

The number one is Axel van Trotsenburg, a senior official at the World Bank Group in charge of development policy and partnerships.

He is recognized for his influence on development financing, debt, climate issues, and coordination with major international institutions.

The Power 50 is published by Devex, an international media platform specialized in global development (aid, health, climate, development finance, NGOs, etc.).
