Zimbabwe : Official start of BRICS membership process with Brazil’s support
On June 24, 2025, Zimbabwe formally initiated its application to join BRICS following diplomatic talks with Brazil, the bloc’s current chair. Foreign Minister Amon Murwira confirmed Brazil is guiding Zimbabwe through the membership steps. BRICS aims to enhance South-South cooperation and boost emerging economies’ international influence.
