Zambia: priority for freight transport

Zambia is seeking to make its railway infrastructure profitable. Thus, a new law now obliges companies based in the country to have 30% of their goods transported by rail, compared to 5% at present. Brian Mushimba, the Zambian Minister of Transport, wants to revive the railway sector and reduce transportation costs. According to the Zambian minister, rail transport would be more economically advantageous for companies than road transport.
