Zambia: Over 1 Million people to access electricity by 2030

On July 28, 2025, the World Bank approved a $200 million grant under the ASCENT Program’s 13th phase to expand sustainable energy access in Zambia. The project will connect over one million people by 2030, targeting remote communities and powering businesses. It also supports economic growth through new technologies, local capacity building and support private sector growth. ASCENT aligns with the Mission 300 goal to electrify 300 million Africans by 2030.
