 Zambia – China – Tanzania : $1.4 billion deal to modernize TAZARA railway

Zambia, Tanzania and China have signed a $1.4 billion agreement to overhaul the 1,860-km TAZARA railway linking Dar es Salaam to Kapiri Mposhi. Following 18 months of talks, the project includes track rehabilitation, upgraded workshops, and the acquisition of 34 locomotives, 16 passenger coaches, and 760 wagons. Zambian Transport Minister Frank Tayali said the initiative embodies a renewed vision of regional integration, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
