Supported by professionals and industry experts, this event promises an unparalleled celebration of photographic art, highlighting both iconic figures and emerging talents from the global photography scene.

Iconic Figures of Contemporary African Photography

This year, Xposure will feature some of the most influential African photographers of our time, showcasing the richness and diversity of the continent’s photographic scene. Among them are iconic figures such as Andrew Tshabangu, Baudouin Mouanda, Mário Macilau, Rifumo Mathebula, Tamary Kudita, and Thandiwe Muriu, whose contributions have shaped and inspired the landscape of contemporary photography.

Andrew Tshabangu, hailing from Soweto, is renowned for his unique style capturing the daily life of black communities in urban Africa, while Baudouin Mouanda, from Congo, explores themes of identity and community through his poignant photographs. Mário Macilau, from Mozambique, uses his art to advocate for social and environmental causes, while Rifumo Mathebula, a young South African photographer, is actively involved in wildlife conservation through his work.

Souhayl A, a Moroccan-born artist-photographer based in Paris, pushes the boundaries of street photography with his innovative approach, while Tamary Kudita from Zimbabwe explores the complexities of cultural duality through her captivating images. Lastly, Thandiwe Muriu from Kenya redefines women’s empowerment through her striking portraits.
