USA-Afrique : US House extends AGOA for three years

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the AGOA Extension Act (H.R. 6500) by 340–54, extending the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) through 31 December 2028.
Since its enactment in 2000, AGOA has allowed eligible sub-Saharan African countries duty-free access to the U.S. market for thousands of products, supporting jobs, exports and investment ties. The bipartisan vote is welcomed by African governments and the African Union Commission as a boost for U.S.–Africa trade relations. The bill still requires Senate approval and the signature of the U.S. president to become law.
