The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as the leading investor in African startups, with a total investment of $110 billion between 2019 and 2023, of which $72 billion is dedicated to renewable energy projects, according to data published in a report by the UAE Ministry of Economy. This figure surpasses investments from other major powers like the United Kingdom, France, and China, solidifying the UAE’s key role in Africa’s economy. Additionally, DP World operates six African ports, further strengthening the UAE’s economic influence on the continent.
