Uganda: Launch of a strategic new railway line
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has inaugurated the construction of a 272 km standard gauge railway (SGR) connecting the Kenyan border to Kampala. This $2.84 billion project aims to lower transportation costs, reduce road wear, and expedite freight between Mombasa and Uganda’s capital. Once completed in 48 months, the SGR will cut delivery times by a factor of 10.
