Uganda : largest power plant commissioned

Uganda has inaugurated its largest hydropower plant, a 600 MW facility on the Nile, built by Sinohydro Corporation for $1.7 billion, with 85% funded by a Chinese loan. This project, which boosts the country’s energy capacity to 2,000 MW, will allow Uganda to export electricity to neighboring countries and support regional development.
