Turkey : Erdogan on official visit to Addis Ababa to mark 100 years of relations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made an official visit to Addis Ababa on 17 February 2026, his first in 11 years, at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, marking 100 years of diplomatic ties between Turkey and Ethiopia. The two nations signed economic and energy cooperation agreements, including a memorandum on renewable energy and energy efficiency, the Turkish Energy Ministry said. Erdogan also emphasized strategic partnership and Turkey’s diplomatic role in the region.
