Tunisia takes over the rotating presidency of the Security Council, the central organ of the United Nations, in January. She takes over from South Africa and will hand over to the UK at the end of the month. This post, less prominent than that of the UN Secretary General, nevertheless remains a lever of influence that states use to advance certain issues.
