Organized by the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) on January 17th, 2019 following the failure of wage negotiations, a 24-hour strike affecting all public sectors paralyzed Tunisia. Air traffic was also disrupted. The head of government, Youssef Chahed had to address the Tunisians at 20H on the TV channel Watania 1.
