Tunisia: record year forecast for tourism

Hotel bookings are up 30% on 2019, the pre-pandemic reference year.

In a statement to the Tap agency, the president of the Tunisian Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Ahmed Betaieb (Ftav), stressed that the Tunisian destination has regained its appeal thanks to the efforts of all stakeholders, forecasting an increase in the number of overnight stays in hotel units in Tunisia at rates of between 20% and 30% compared to 2019 (reference year).

The number of tourists from traditional European markets (Germany, France and England) has returned to 2019 levels, while a new market has emerged, Armenia.
The Russian market, which along with Algeria had saved the tourist season in 2019, is absent due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Tunisia had attracted 9 million and 30 thousand tourists up to December 20, 2019 (the reference year before covid-19), according to data provided by the then Minister of Tourism, René Trabelsi.
