Tunisia: Digital consulate to be established by 2025 to support Tunisian diaspora
During the first joint session between the Assembly of the People’s Representatives and the Council of Regions and Districts, Prime Minister Kamel Madouri unveiled new initiatives to support Tunisians living abroad. These include establishing a digital consulate by 2025, creating a one-stop service center to simplify procedures, reducing financial transfer costs, and enhancing social coverage for expatriates.
The Tunisian diaspora is estimated to include around 1.5 million people worldwide. These Tunisians living abroad are primarily concentrated in France, which hosts the largest community, followed by other European countries such as Italy and Germany, as well as North American countries like the United States and Canada.
This community plays an important role in Tunisia’s economy, particularly through financial transfers and investments made in their home country.
