Tunisia : $1 billion project to expand Tunis‑Carthage Airport to 18.5 M passengers/year by 2031

Tunisia has included in the 2026 investment budget of the Office de l’aviation civile et des aéroports a plan to expand Tunis‑Carthage International Airport with an estimated 3 billion Tunisian dinars (~$1 billion). The Ministry of Transport says the project will increase annual passenger capacity from 5 million to 18.5 million by 2031, supporting post‑pandemic traffic growth and modernizing air infrastructure. The government has opted to prioritize this extension over building a new airport for now.
