Transport : Spiro Partners with Societe Generale and GuarantCo for Expansion of Electric Motorbikes in Africa

Spiro, a leading electric motorbike manufacturer and clean energy provider in Africa, has entered into a partnership with Societe Generale and GuarantCo, part of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG). Their collaboration aims to expand the fleet of electric motorbikes, batteries, and swap stations in Benin and Togo. The financing for this expansion amounts to XOF 37.8 billion (US$63 million), with a partial credit guarantee of 70% provided by GuarantCo.

Spiro has deployed over 9,200 electric motorbikes across Benin, Togo, and Rwanda. These motorbikes have traveled a total distance of 80 million kilometers without emitting any pollutants. Additionally, the drivers have done 2 million battery swaps, resulting in a reduction of 4,000 tons of carbon emissions in the first year of operation.
