Trade between France and Sub-Saharan Africa in 2023 totaled €24.5 billion, 1.9% of France’s foreign trade. Imports of hydrocarbons increased, led by Nigeria and Angola. Main partners: Nigeria, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Angola, Cameroon. France remains the 8th supplier with a 3.2% market share. In terms of investments, France is the 2nd largest investor in Africa with €38.9 billion of FDI in 2022 and 2,440 subsidiaries employing 235,000 people.
