Trace Awards & Festival 2023 : celebrating Afro-Urban cultures in Kigali
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Trace Group is launching the Trace Awards & Festival on October 20-21, 2023 in Kigali, a new awards ceremony and live festival celebrating the creativity, dynamism and confidence of African and African-inspired music and culture around the world.

Shining a spotlight on musicians, creators, entrepreneurs and personalities from across Africa and the African Diaspora, the Trace Awards & Festival will take place in Kigali, Rwanda on October 20-21, 2023, in partnership with Visit Rwanda and QA Venue Solutions Rwanda, the management company of the BK Arena.
A two-day cultural festival to entertain and empower music creators and fans
The event will feature a spectacular three-hour live televised music ceremony, preceded by a two-day cultural festival designed to entertain and empower music creators and fans alike.
Featuring the world’s leading African and Afro-descendant artists, the Trace Awards will take place at East Africa’s largest indoor venue, the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, in front of 7,500 music fans, musicians, opinion formers, style makers and influencers from Africa and around the world. The awards recognize a wide range of musical genres, from Afrobeat to Dancehall, Afro-Pop, Mbalax, Amapiano, Zouk, Kizomba, Genge, Coupé-Décalé, Bongo Flava, Soukous, Gospel, Rap, Kompa, Rhythm and Blues and Rumba, as well as honoring artists in a number of cultural and lifestyle categories.

The Compozers, the leading British Afrobeat group nominated in the Best Live category, will also be in Kigali as the awards’ house band.
The campaign will also include a series of events, an awards tour, parties and screenings in Africa, Europe, the USA, the UK, Brazil, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.
Aimed at fans of African and African-inspired music and culture around the world, the Trace Awards will be broadcast live on Trace channels in over 180 countries. They will also be broadcast on Trace’s terrestrial television partners and satellite channels around the world.
