Togo signs International Cocoa Agreement 2026 first – February 13, 2026
Togo took part in the United Nations Cocoa Conference 2026 organized by UNCTAD/CNUCED and the 40th Extraordinary Session of the International Cocoa Council (ICCO) in Geneva on 13 February 2026. At the conference, the new International Cocoa Agreement 2026 (ICA 2026), the successor to the 2010 agreement, was formally presented and opened for signatures by Member States. Togo, led by Enselme Gouthon (Secretary‑General of the CCFCC), was the first country to sign the ICA 2026, ahead of Côte d’Ivoire and Nicaragua. The agreement sets new global priorities: ensuring a living income for cocoa farmers, promoting local processing, and integrating economic, social and environmental sustainability while reducing barriers to investment. It will enter into force once at least two signatory States deposit instruments of ratification. This renewed framework underscores producers’ ambition to strengthen their role in international cocoa governance.
