On March 31, 2026, in Paris, as part of the international ChangeNOW Summit 2026, the “Africa for Change” program marked a significant step in recognizing Africa’s strategic role in global transitions. Organized by ChangeNOW, the initiative aims to accelerate environmental and social transformation through concrete, scalable solutions.

Founded in 2017, ChangeNOW has become a key player in the global impact ecosystem. Its mission is to “foster the deployment of solutions addressing the greatest challenges of our century,” in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the Organisation des Nations unies in 2015. Each year, the summit brings together thousands of decision-makers, entrepreneurs, investors, NGOs, and public institutions to create synergies and accelerate the adoption of sustainable models.

A strategic platform dedicated to high-impact African initiatives

In this context, “Africa for Change” positions itself as a strategic platform dedicated to high-impact African initiatives. The objective is clear: identify local solutions capable of addressing global challenges while enabling their scale-up through connections with financial and institutional partners.

According to the organizers, the ambition is to “position Africa not only as a land of opportunity, but as a global leader in sustainable transformation.” This vision reflects a growing reality: the continent holds unique potential, driven by its demographics—over 1.4 billion people according to UN data—its natural resources, and rapidly emerging innovation ecosystems.

The March 31 program illustrated this momentum through several highlights. A keynote conference brought together experts and changemakers to discuss resilience, innovation, and systemic transformation. Thematic sessions addressed key issues such as climate-smart agriculture led by African Women Presence, and financing Africa’s fast-growing cities—a major challenge as the continent’s urban population is expected to double by 2050, according to UN projections.

Position Africa not only as a land of opportunity, but as a global leader in sustainable transformation

A dedicated pitch session also showcased African-led solutions, increasing visibility for innovative projects in strategic sectors such as energy, resource management, and economic inclusion. This visibility responds to a critical issue: despite rising global impact investments, Africa still captures only a limited share—around 5% of global flows—according to international development institutions.

Beyond conferences, ChangeNOW stands out for its results-driven approach. The organization highlights tangible outcomes from past editions: over 20 million views generated for selected solutions, multi-million-euro fundraising achievements, and institutional partnerships leading to regulatory advances, such as the integration of microplastic filters into French legislation.

Access to financing, project structuring, and integration into international value chains : remove key barriers to development

“Africa for Change” fully aligns with this impact-driven logic. By facilitating connections between African innovators and global stakeholders, the program aims to remove key barriers to development: access to financing, project structuring, and integration into international value chains.

The initiative comes at a time when challenges are significant but opportunities are equally substantial. According to the Banque mondiale, Africa will need to create nearly 20 million jobs per year by 2030 to absorb its growing workforce. At the same time, the continent is highly exposed to climate change impacts while holding strong potential for sustainable solutions, particularly in renewable energy.
