Survey : over half of African economic leaders surveyed see the EU as their top partner by 2050

African economic leaders prefer the EU to strengthen its presence in Africa rather than China or Russia, according to a Choiseul survey. Over half of the respondents see the EU as their top partner by 2050. The EU aims to invest in sectors such as digital and energy in Africa through its « Global Gateway » initiative. Chinese presence is decreasing due to financial difficulties but is still deemed necessary by some. Africans prioritize Germany within the EU to play a major role in Africa. European investors hold the majority of FDI in Africa.
