South Sudan: first IMF loan

South Sudan has just obtained a loan of US $ 52.3 million from the International Monetary Fund ( IMF) to face its urgent balance of payments needs, following the coronavirus pandemic and the oil price shock,. Concurrently with this first credit, the central bank announced that it would tighten monetary policy to mitigate the rapid depreciation of its currency against the US dollar.
