South Africa : R2.2 Trillion energy plan to boost economy

On 19 October 2025, Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa unveiled the Integrated Resource Plan 2025. With an investment of R2.2 trillion (~$130bn), the plan aims to end the electricity crisis, create jobs, achieve 3% GDP growth by 2030, and shift the energy mix toward solar, wind, gas, and nuclear. Energy security and emissions reduction are central to this ambitious strategy.
