South Africa : Google’s products and services generated $6.56 billion for the economy

A report commissioned by Google and led by Public First reveals that Google’s products and services have generated approximately 118 billion rand (about $6.56 billion) for the South African economy. This report highlights Google’s commitment to the country’s digital growth by supporting infrastructure and startups. South Africa is at the forefront of the technological revolution in Africa, with a significant increase in internet usage. Paul Mayanja, acting director of Google South Africa, expressed his delight at the results, stating that Google helps improve access to technological tools. In 2023, over 300,000 young adults acquired new digital skills through Google Search, contributing to an increase of $277.78 million in national productivity.
