South Africa: GDP down by 0.7
South Africa’s economy remains « fragile » with GDP falling 0.7% in the second quarter, after two consecutive quarters of growth. « The devastating floods in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN, south-east) and (electricity) load shedding have contributed to this decline, weakening an already fragile national economy that had just returned to a pre-pandemic level, » explains the government statistics agency (StatsSA) in a statement.
