Solar : 13 African countries generate over 10% of electricity from solar, total capacity 23 GW, real potential 63.9 GW

The Africa Solar Outlook 2026 by AFSIA shows 13 African countries now generate over 10% of electricity from solar, led by CAR (37.7%). In 2025, only 2.4 GW were added, down 35% from 2024. Africa accounts for just 2.6% of global solar capacity, but battery storage enables 24/7 solar power at $76/MWh.
