The World Bank (WB) has approved a US$120 million long-term loan for Tunisia to facilitate access to finance for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), it said in a press release on February 8. According to the WB, the Tunisian Ministry of Finance will onlend these funds to local banks for short-term credits to SMEs.
As a reminder, surveys conducted by the WB show that 43.9% of Tunisian SMEs considered access to funding to be a major constraint to their development in 2020,
