Senegal : IFC commits up to $40 million to boost SME financing

In Senegal, the International Finance Corporation(IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced on October 7, 2025 a financing package of up to $40 million to expand credit for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises through the Banque Islamique du Sénégal, including women-led businesses. SMEs account for over 90 % of companies and around 40 % of jobs in the country, according to official IFC data. The initiative aims to strengthen financial inclusion and support job creation.
