Senegal : $222M to restore 80,000 ha under the Great Green Wall

Senegal committed to restoring 80,000 hectares of degraded land as part of the SURAGGWA program, backed by $222 million in funding, including $150 million from the Green Climate Fund. Covering eight Sahel countries, the initiative targets the restoration of 1.4 million hectares and stronger climate-resilient value chains. Authorities warn that Senegal has lost 340,000 ha of forests since 2005.
