Sahel : Mali and Niger re-establish double taxation with France

The transitional government of Mali and the government of Niger set up by the CNSP military junta have signed a joint press release denouncing the agreements signed by their two countries with France, citing France’s « persistent hostile attitude » and the « unbalanced nature » of these agreements, which represent « a considerable loss of revenue for Mali and Niger ».

The convention between France and Mali, signed in 1972, aims to « avoid double taxation and establish rules for reciprocal assistance in matters of income tax, inheritance tax, registration duties and stamp duties ».

The same applies to the agreement between France and Niger, signed in 1965, which also aims to « eliminate double taxation and establish rules for mutual administrative assistance in tax matters ».

These two agreements cover personal and corporate income tax, inheritance tax and registration duties.
