On June 8, 2025, during the 26th ECCAS Summit in Malabo, Rwanda officially withdrew from the bloc, citing manipulation by the DRC and its exclusion from the rotating chair. A member since 2007, Rwanda criticized violations of the founding treaty and AU inaction. No financial support was disclosed.
