The Conference of Heads of State of CEMAC (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad) has appointed Cameroonian Dieudonné Evou Mekou as President of the Development Bank of Central Africa (Bdeac).
He succeeds the Equato-Guinean Fortunato-Ofa Mbo Nchama, who has reached the end of his mandate. The latter has also toured the CEMAC countries to bid farewell to the various financial authorities of the sub-region. The new president of Bdeac thus benefits from a rotation according to the rules governing the governance of sub-regional banking and financial institutions. He will hold the post for a five-year term.
Ex-Director General of the Caisse Autonome d’Amortissement (CAA)
A well-known figure in the Cameroonian economic environment, Dieudonné Evou Mekou was Director General of the Caisse Autonome d’Amortissement (CAA) from 2005 to 2016, an organization in charge of the public debt. Until his appointment to Bdeac, he was Vice-Governor at the Bank of Central African States (Beac), a position held since February 6, 2017.
A civil administrator
Dieudonné Evou Mekou, 61, is a civil administrator by training and a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d’Administration et de Magistrature (ENAM).
In 2000 he was appointed Deputy General Manager of Crédit Lyonnais Cameroon before being appointed General Manager of the Caisse Autonome d’Amortissement (CAA). A position he will hold until 2016.
