Nigeria : Strengthened partnership with India covering defense, energy, maritime security, technology, and trade

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his first official visit to Nigeria on November 19, where he met with President Bola Tinubu. The two leaders announced an expanded strategic partnership covering defense, energy, maritime security, technology, and trade. India remains Nigeria’s largest trading partner in Africa, with bilateral trade reaching $14.9 billion in 2022. Modi was also awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, the country’s second-highest national honor.
