Nigeria : S&P shifts outlook to positive, keeps ‘B-/B’ rating

S&P Global Ratings upgraded Nigeria’s outlook from stable to positive while affirming its sovereign rating at ‘B-/B’. The agency cites reform momentum since 2023, including foreign-exchange liberalization, subsidy removal and rising fiscal revenues. S&P also highlights a gradual recovery in oil output, which could strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal position and external buffers.
