Nigeria: European Union announces $336M support to strengthen social services and governance

The Nigeria will receive a new $336 million support package from the European Union under its ongoing partnership with the federal government, according to March 2026 programming documents from the EU international partnerships portal. The funding is directed at strengthening access to basic social services, governance and economic development as Nigeria faces persistent inflation, naira depreciation and significant public investment needs. As Africa’s largest economy and most populous country, Nigeria remains a strategic EU partner across areas such as inclusive growth, governance and social resilience. The support is part of the broader 2021‑2027 EU cooperative framework combining bilateral and regional programmes to foster economic and social transformation.
