Nigeria : commencement of production at Dangote’s mega refinery
Aliko Dangote’s mega refinery in Nigeria has commenced the production of diesel and aviation fuel, according to the group. With a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day and costing around $19 billion, the refinery aims to address fuel shortages in the country of 215 million people, which currently relies on imports. The full capacity and gasoline production details are yet to be specified. Launched in 2013, the project aims to enhance fuel quality and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on its state-owned refineries.
