Nigeria: cabinet shuffles at the top of the Army
After months of pressure on his response to the country’s worsening security, Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, replaced the main military commanders on Tuesday January 26, 2021. Confirmation from his office which emphasizes that these officials have given him their resignation letters and he then immediately announced their replacement. They are General Abayomi Olonisakin, Chief of the Defense Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Staff of the Army, Vice-Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, Chief of Staff Major of the Navy, and Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
In their respective places are appointed Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defense Staff, Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Staff of the Army, Rear Admiral AZ Gambo, Chief of the Naval Staff and Vice Air Marshal IO Amao, Chief of the Air Force Staff.
