Nigeria : 90,000 km fiber optic project to connect 70% of population

Nigeria’s government has announced the launch of a 90,000 km fiber optic project starting in the last quarter of 2025, backed by $700 million in funding. The initiative will extend the country’s fiber backbone from 35,000 to 125,000 km, connecting millions of Nigerians and boosting Internet coverage to over 70% of the population. Communications Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani revealed the plan at a conference on connectivity.
