Namibia : Joint oil refinery with Botswana under discussion

On May 23, 2025, Namibia and Botswana unveiled plans to build a joint oil refinery to process local crude and reduce fuel imports—a project potentially worth several hundred million dollars. During her working visit to Gaborone, Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Botswana’s President Duma Boko also agreed to deepen cooperation in diamonds and enhance trade via Walvis Bay Port.
