Namibia : Goal to connect 200,000 households to electricity by 2030

On May 12, 2025, Namibia set a goal to connect over 200,000 households to the electricity grid by 2030, aimed at improving living standards and promoting inclusive economic development. Ben Nangombe, Executive Director at the Ministry of Industries, Mines, and Energy, emphasized the need for affordable and efficient energy technologies such as mini-grids and off-grid solar systems. Additionally, the country aims to increase domestic electricity production to 80% by 2030, up from 45% today, with a government support of 283 million Namibian dollars ($15.5 million USD).
