Mozambique : TotalEnergies restarts Mozambique LNG gas project

French energy group TotalEnergies has confirmed the full restart of Mozambique LNG, a $20 billion gas project in Cabo Delgado, halted since the deadly jihadist attack of March 2021. The lifting of force majeure follows an agreement with the Mozambican government on cost overruns and an extended concession.
Operated by TotalEnergies (26.5%), the project targets first production in 2029 and currently employs over 4,000 workers, mostly Mozambican, amid ongoing security and environmental concerns.
