Mozambique : graphite processing plant inaugurated

A graphite processing facility with an annual capacity of 200,000 t was opened on January 30, 2026 in Niassa Province, Mozambique by President Daniel Francisco Chapo.
Developed by Chinese firm DH Mining (Jinan Yuxiao Group), the project involved about $150–200 million in investment and currently employs ~890 workers, with plans to reach 2,000 jobs in future phases. The plant reflects Mozambique’s strategy to add local value to its mineral resources, shifting from raw exports to becoming a producer and processor of graphite — a critical material for EV batteries and electronics.
