Mozambique : energy potential to boost access and industrialisation – IEA

Mozambique can leverage its vast energy resources – natural gas, hydropower, solar and wind – to expand electricity access, promote clean cooking, and support industrial development, according to the IEA’s first Energy Policy Review for the country. The IEA recommends strengthening planning, data systems, and partnerships. Over half of the population remains off-grid, with just 7% using modern cooking solutions. Mozambique’s Energy Transition Strategy (ETE) for 2030 and a Sovereign Wealth Fund aim to channel gas revenues toward development.
