Mozambique : AfDB grants $20 million trade finance guarantee to support up to $120 million in SME trade

The African Development Bank Group has approved a $20 million transaction guarantee facility for Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI), the largest commercial bank in Mozambique, to expand small and medium-sized enterprises’ access to trade finance. According to the bank, the three-year facility will provide up to 100% risk coverage to confirming banks on trade transactions issued by BCI and could support up to $120 million in trade flows through revolving operations, helping address Mozambique’s trade finance gap.
