On 22 November 2025, Morocco and U.S. company GPM Holding signed an investment agreement in Tan-Tan to establish the country’s first polysilicon production unit in the El Ouatia industrial zone. The project mobilizes 8 billion dirhams (~€730M) for an annual capacity of 30,000 tons, 85% for export. It is expected to create 1,500 direct jobs and strengthen the local industrial ecosystem, positioning Morocco as a key player in the global solar sector.
